One month later

Can you believe that it's been almost a complete month since I started teaching?

One month. DONE.

Because I sure can't.

Budapesssht

Budapest was beautiful and elegant and crumbling, decaying, plucky and sad.
-All My Puny Sorrows

I remember reading that quote in the Fall (before I was offered a job in Budapest - also thanks for the book Dad!) and thinking that the quote pretty much summed up everything I could want in a city. Something that isn't trying to put up a front for the tourists but really has a soul. Somewhere that isn't perfect but is ALIVE. And Budapest has so far lived up to that hype, I am surrounded by beautiful buildings, passionate people and so much history.

Que sera sera

So.

So I'm sure y'all know that I'm planning on moving to Hungary in the New Year (God willing/knock on wood) to teach english for a few years. Oh you didn't? Well I am.

Happy Canada Day

I love July first. I'm not usually patriotic throughout the year but for Canada Day I will sing the national anthem at the top of my lungs. But not today. All I want to do is cry. And I have.

Salzburg

Took the train to Salzburg and arrived to another heat wave. We were starving so we went to the Spar to order a schnitzel. Turns out they were out so we asked for the cooked meat next to it. We ended up walking out with a hamburger in a bun type deal which was super delicious. But we can't replicate it because we don't know what it was. And that is our only sad story from Salzburg.

Flashback June 15-Leaving Vienna and reminiscing

After one tiring day in Vienna, we're off to Salzburg. Vienna is a beautiful city, you can't really fault it for that. But it does mean that there are masses of tourists. I thought there were a lot before. I was wrong.

Bathing in Budapest

They have a saying in Hungary. If you dig in Budapest, you'll hit a hot spring. And I'm happy to report that they make extremely good use of this natural resource.
