Flash back: March 24

We're on the bus back to Marrakech from sunny, surf town Taghazout. I don't think I've swallowed quite so much sea water in a very long time... Is it gross to say that my phlegm still tastes like the ocean? Yeah that's probably TMI. Sorry.

We spent the last three days chilling in our apartment, which is steps from the beach. The apartment was very cold, and tiled. Easy to clean I guess. Also slightly scary. We had a windowless kitchen where the light burnt out after our second night. So we would kind of fumble around for the fridge to use it's light. We're very handy that way.

We also almost killed ourselves trying to turn on the oven's gas hob. I swear I've turned on lots before but none as difficult as this one. (Andrea it was ten times harder than the one in Italy.) And with the kitchen furthest away from the front door and no windows in between, it got a bit touch and go for a while. We just wanted to cook our pasta and it turned into an ordeal. (We survived though Mom, don't worry.) Joel macgyvered an empty cigarette packet into a long burning torch and used that.

Taghazout is definitely a surfers paradise. Super cheap to rent a board and wetsuit (55 dirham/day so a little over four pounds) and the food isn't too bad. We alternated between whatever fresh fish the restaurants had and tagines. Tagines are basically slow cooked meat and veg. Moroccans really love their meat. And oranges. They're definitely the easiest foods to eat here. I still haven't got sick of tagines yet which is amazing. They're just so yummy.

We chose to surf only one day because the waves were pretty awful for the first two. So we sat around eating oranges and watching the two english channels on our tv. Three if you count MTV which we tried to avoid. (But it's so addicting!) Joel and I are both AWESOME at surfing. Put all those hardcore surfers to shame.

That's a lie. I think between us we managed to stand up a total of thirty seconds. Hence the salty phlegm.

We've decided to leave Taghazout partly to go on a trek to the Sahara, partly because we're a bit bored and partly because suddenly everyone we met was getting food poisoning. Seemed as good a time as any to get going.
